Excerpt From Q&A with the Author
“Why are you passionate about connecting people more deeply with their Body Wisdom and Intuition?
I believe the relationship we have with ourself is the most important one. I have found creative modalities and practices that bring out the best in me. Bringing them into my daily life has fostered my access to my own inner wisdom and guidance so that I no longer need to look outside of myself. We are all powerful. My wish is that we all know, feel and embody how truly Magnificent we are and live from that extraordinary place.
How do you stay motivated and inspired to do the work you do?
Having a creative-reflective practice allows me to be with my body and my emotions. This has been vital to sustaining my wellbeing and sense of Self. It allows me to tap into portals of creativity, it supports me to be with what comes up in life and move through it as needed. My creative-reflective practices are the easiest avenue for me to clear my mind, steady my body and bring peace to my heart.
No matter how I am feeling, if I get out my journal and start writing, splash some colour on an art pad or pump some tunes on the speaker and move my body, I will always feel better, lighter and more connected.
When I am running low on motivation or inspiration, I remain curious and connect with other artists. I read their books, I listen to their music, watch their films and discover new pieces of art.
If people have challenges or come up against obstacles around connecting with their Body Wisdom, what do you say to them to help them persevere?
Our bodies are innately wise, and I truly believe that the answers we seek are within us. The challenge is in readily accessing this wisdom. The beauty is that this deep work can be done at our own pace and in our own unique way. I remind people of this and guide them to go gently, taking the pressure off any expectations on themselves.
For me, it really has been about Finding a Pause and creating the space and time in our lives to be with ourselves and our feelings in this intentional and curious way. In that space, we can be open to a dialogue with Self and allow what unfolds to be seen, acknowledged, felt and moved. Yes, it can be challenging, and we can resist and create our own blocks to it, but as deep as the work is, it can be just as fun and playful, creative and inspiring. Play with it! Find the things that bring you joy and do that often.
What’s your hope for people once they’ve read your book?
My hope is that this book is one that readers can return to as and when needed, time and time again diving into the invitations offered. I hope that my words can inspire and encourage their self-exploration. I would love readers to connect with the invitations and weave them into their lives, developing their own practices.
What are three closing pieces of wisdom you live by each day?
~ My breath is always available to me
~ Meet the Sacred everyday
~ Dance will always bring me back”
