Reconnecting with your Intuition

ree

I am sorry I stopped listening

I am sorry I shut you out

I dismissed your signals, I down-played you

I convinced myself that I knew better

I mistook you for self-doubt, fear, insecurity

There was a time when I hated you

I thought that you had left me

Abandoned me

But you hand’t

I had only stopped listening

I don’t think I ever learned how to listen

But I’m willing to listen now

~ P. 20 Body Wisdom ~ A guide to connecting with your Intuitive Self

This is an extract from a Letter I wrote to my Intuition many moons ago.

When I finally realised how much I had been ignoring, dismissing and silencing this part of myself.

How often had I felt my inner voice dismissed? Silenced? Ignored? And yet for all of these years I had been doing it to myself, to my own inner voice.

Call it programming, call it being the ‘good girl’, call it self-doubt, call it being gaslit, call it the ‘witches wound’.

There had once been such a strong sense of Self alive in me. But I had gagged this voice, blocked my ears to it, and being immune to all the signals my body was sending me to try to get me to listen.

Without access to this voice, this intuition, this vital part of myself - I lost my way. I gave away my power, I turned to others for the answers, unable to make decisions for myself, unable to know what was right for me.

And yet now, over a decade on - I’ve been facilitating workshops connecting people back to their Intuition through body-based creative arts therapies, running my business Intuitive Self and have written my debut book: Body Wisdom ~ A guide to connecting with your Intuitive Self.

I have come to know my Intuition as an ally.

Come to work with her, in partnership. Come back to myself with her help. I have learnt how to work with my body, understand my body signals and know the language of my Intuition. I have return to a place of trust in it, and trust in myself.

But how did I get here, what actually is intuition and why is it important, especially for women to cultivate this relationship with this integral resource within?

Well all of that is covered in my intimate deep-dive with Spencer Moore.

Creator of The Hairy Chin podcast & newsletter, Spencer has re-launched for a fresh new season and our juicy conversation is episode 22 & 23 - available now to listen to!

It was a joy to connect with Spencer and a very meaningful conversation which I hope many of you can resonate with.

Takeaways:

  • Trusting your intuition can change your health and choices

  • Women are taught to suppress their intuition

  • Intuition can be a compass for navigating life decisions

  • Shame can disconnect us from our intuition

  • Reconnecting with intuition requires practice and patience

  • It’s important to communicate and connect with your inner voice

  • Listening to your body can guide you to your intuition

  • Shame grows in silence; speaking it can diminish its power

  • Apologising to your intuition can help rebuild trust

If our conversation gets your curious about your own relationship with your Intuition - I share a BONUS EPISODE with Spencer where I guide you through a 3-part creative process to Meet your Intuition.

First through a guided visualisation meditation; second through a guided creative-arts process and thirdly through some writing prompts - with a downloadable Letter to Intuition PDF resource.

Enjoy :)
